Trace looks at the traces left behind by time physically on the landscape and in the brain, memory. It explores the relationship between movement and time. The piece has developed in two parts. The first shows a woman running in sand on a beach. As she runs around and around in a circle, her path begins to appear. Ghost images of herself appear and disappear, retracing steps she has already made.
The second part shows the woman running through woods. The movement is stuttered, speeded up and slowed down; jumping from place to place through the actual event of running once through the trees. As you watch, the woman’s path is revealed in the space as you remember where her path will take her.

The piece has developed mainly through the editing process, taking the imagery and using the editing tools to adjust speed and overlay images essentially to create the piece.
